Sex: A solution for Prostate Cancer?

by Tolulope Akinruli

A Nigerian doctor, Dr. Rasheed Adedapo, has offered advice suggesting that men should aim for sexual activity at least 21 times per month to lower the risk of prostate cancer during their formative years. He shared this insight during a discussion on Classic FM, emphasizing the physiological principle that regular sexual activity helps maintain prostate health and overall well-being, as captioned by entreprenuerng.com

Dr. Adedapo stressed the importance of the “use it or lose it” concept in physiology, highlighting that sexual activity serves as a form of exercise for the prostate gland. He cited research indicating that men in good health should aim for 21 sexual interactions per month to mitigate the risk of prostate and cardiovascular issues.

While advocating for regular sexual activity, Dr. Adedapo also suggested the idea of having extramarital partners, citing concerns that a man’s spouse may not always be able to fulfill the recommended frequency. He humorously advised men not to share this recommendation with their spouses, proposing that if a spouse cannot meet the desired frequency, having a designated extramarital partner on a contractual basis could help achieve the target of 21 sexual encounters per month.

Prostate cancer

According to the National Library of Medicine, prostate cancer claims the lives of approximately 20,000 Nigerian men annually, underscoring the urgency of proactive measures to promote prostate health.
