Nigeria cannot progress if youths don’t wake up – Akinlami

by Tolulope Akinruli

Praise Akinlami, CEO of Profitify Consulting in Abuja, Nigeria, is a passionate champion for young empowerment and leadership to promote significant change in the country. He emphasises the vital need for young Nigerians to take the lead in areas such as empowerment and governance in order to catalyse growth and transformation.

“With a deep conviction, I believe that Nigeria will not witness substantial change unless its youth step up to lead in empowerment, governance, and other critical areas,” Akinlami points out.

Nigeria, with its great potential and young population, is at a crossroads where the engagement and involvement of its youth are critical to moulding its future direction. The empowerment of young Nigerians through education, skill development, and leadership opportunities is critical to realising the country’s demographic dividend.

“The youths of Nigeria must awaken to their potential and take proactive steps towards effecting positive change in their communities and the nation at large,” he says.

Unemployment, insufficient access to decent education, and restricted opportunities for meaningful engagement in governance have strangled the dreams of many Nigerian youths. However, Praise anticipates a future in which empowered youth leaders promote innovation, advocate for social justice, and lead sustainable development efforts.

“If the youths do not wake up and take the lead in empowerment, leadership, and other critical sectors, Nigeria’s trajectory will remain unchanged,” Praise says.

Empowering Nigerian youths demands more than just rhetoric; it also necessitates concrete investments in education, skill development, entrepreneurship, and civic involvement. By providing young Nigerians with the tools and resources they need to prosper, the country may reach its full potential and ensure a brighter future for future generations.

“The time to act is now. Praise advises Nigerian youths to grasp the moment, use their abilities and ingenuity to make the change they want to see in their communities.
