Nigeria’s mobile telecommunications business has grown significantly during the last two decades and entrepreneur, and for Elo Umeh, the smartphone revolution was accompanied by a vision – a business concept that would leverage smartphones to drive interactions and create value for businesses.

Elo Umeh launched Terragon Group, a data analytics company based in Lagos that provides software services to satisfy clients’ marketing and analytics needs, in response to this opportunity.

Umeh had extensive experience in Africa’s mobile telecommunications market by working in the communication industries of many African countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivoire.

With his years of experience and passion for digital life, the young entrepreneur was motivated to found Terragon in 2009.

Elo Umeh stated that the company has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, with more potential on the horizon following the launch of Adrenaline, the company’s unique platform.

Terragon currently has operations in various African nations, including Kenya, Ghana, and Cameroon, in addition to Nigeria.

Terragon bought Bizense, a Singapore-based mobile ad platform for telecoms, in 2018 to extend its operations.

“Bizense is a perfect fit for us as we’ve had time to grow our partnership and ascertain compatibility. We are united by a common culture of innovating game-changing mobile solutions — this is the unique differentiator,” he said.

During the announcement, Elo stated that the transaction had been a long time coming and that it would boost the company’s tech offering to its clients.

Terragon has expanded its proprietary marketing technology company beyond Africa to additional potential areas in Asia and Latin America as a result of the acquisition.

Umeh did not say how much money was involved in the acquisition.

TLCom Capital, a venture capital firm, invested $5 million in the company the same year.

In explaining how the company works, the young entrepreneur stated that Terragon-Adrenaline is helping to redefine the advertising landscape by connecting African mobile operators to an existing web ecosystem, allowing them to target previously unidentified consumers and enable personalized ad serving and monetisation.

According to him, the company currently has over a hundred employees and directly connects to 150 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa.
