A man was killed in a collision involving three vehicles, including a tricycle, a white Camry automobile, and a commercial bus driven by Mazda in the Iyana-Ipaja region of Lagos State, Entrepreneurng report.
However, it was learned that the driver of the Camry with the license plate KJA 351 HG crashed into the trike while traveling at top speed, causing the tricycle driver to lose control and obstruct an approaching Mazda commercial bus carrying passengers.
As individuals tried to rescue the injured victims and rush them to local hospitals for treatment, it was discovered that no less than three people had suffered injuries of varied severity in the collision.
Again, one of the injured people passed away before being taken to the hospital, according to Taofiq Adebayo, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA. Bolaji Oreagba, General Manager of LASTMA, also stated that the accident could have been avoided if the driver had not been traveling at top speed.
“Operations of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority today rescued three severely injured accident victims two males and one female at Mosalasi Roundabout, inward the Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos,” read the statement.”
“LASTMA Three vehicles were involved in the collision, according to Akanji Wasiu (Bravo 16), who oversaw the rescue efforts: a white Camry car with the license plate KJA 351 HG, a tricycle with the number plate KJA 369 QM, and a Mazda commercial bus with the registration number FKJ 88 XH.”
According to preliminary findings of the inquiry, the driver of a white Camry vehicle lost control while driving too fast and struck a commercial tricycle from behind. The trike then became unbalanced and impeded the path of an arriving, fully loaded Mazda commercial bus that was headed in the opposite direction.
Nonetheless, in describing how the three casualties were promptly taken to various hospitals by their families, one of the men who was saved passed away on the way there.
Adebayo further mentioned that to prevent obstructing the free flow of traffic, the vehicles involved in the accident were taken off the road right away. They were then given to police officers from the Gowon Estate Divisional Police Headquarters for additional investigation.
“One of the passengers inside the commercial tricycle involved in the accident was caught with more than 100 pieces of used small children’s “diaper pampers” and a huge amount of money of different denominations,” he continued. “He was promptly given over to policemen at the scene of the accident.”
According to Adebayo, Oreagba insisted that the government has been regularly educating the public about the risks associated with excessive speeding by truck, commercial, and individual drivers in the state.
In conclusion, he cautioned the driving public to always make sure their cars are in good shape, especially after a break before using Lagos roads.
