Tauriq Keraan, has an inspiring story as the CEO of TymeBank. His success has become a source of inspiration to many entrepreneurs across the globe.
This South African digital bank first raised $109 million in February and by the end of the year, announced that it had “secured investments from Tencent and CDC to complete its US$180 million Series B capital raise”.
The company also noted that the funds raised would enable it to roll out more financial services for its mass market customer base. We shall be watching to see how that goes.

In 2015, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) acquired 100% of Tyme, and renamed the business TymeDigital by Commonwealth Bank SA.
On 28 September 2017, TymeDigital secured an operating licence from the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). It was the first full banking licence to be issued by the SARB since 1999.
