President Bola Tinubu stated late Thursday that the reforms implemented by his administration would strengthen Africa’s economic prospects. According to a statement from Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser for Information and Strategy, Tinubu said this at a State Dinner hosted by the French government in his honour at the Palais des Elysées in Paris.
“With regard to Nigeria’s economy, we have begun on a complete overhaul, and there is no looking back. “It is in the best interests of the entire continent that we do not repeat the past. “We must prepare for the future with devotion and optimism. With the courage of our founding fathers. “President Macron, all your efforts about Africa, I promise you shall not be in vain,” he told reporters.
Tinubu praised French President Emmanuel Macron’s interest in Africa, which he said will strengthen bilateral ties and benefit the entire continent. He encouraged both Nigerian and French citizens to maintain the friendly ties between their countries. “It is an honour for me to be here.
And it’s been a wonderful day because you organised a fantastic reception. “Appreciating your knowledge of Nigeria isn’t enough. Your warmth, passion, and forethought in Africa are exceptional. “You piqued my interest and drew my attention as a leader. Thank you. “France has gone through a lot to bring freedom, democracy, and devotion together. Your efforts are incredibly encouraging for us to work together.
“We have no choice but to build a continent that connects, resonates for its people, and cares about the people and development,” Tinubu, the president, commented. In his speech, Macron acknowledged Nigeria’s leadership in Africa, citing its role as the continent’s ‘big brother’.
He complimented Nigerians for their resilience and intelligence, citing Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka and musician Femi Kuti as worldwide personalities. “Nigeria is a formidable country with a talented young population. Many Nigerians excel in their chosen fields.
“You overcame military control and seized your freedoms. President Tinubu transformed Lagos’ economy, and now you’re on a mission to transform the entire country,” he said. Macron emphasised that French investors have long been active in Nigeria, particularly in oil, gas, construction, and food security.
He also mentioned prospects in solid minerals, future technologies, and the film sector. “Nigeria and France will continue to lead together, forging a path forward,” said President Macron.
