When six Hummer buses carrying INEC officials were attacked by unidentified gunmen in Kogi early on Sunday morning, six people are allegedly missing and presumed dead, Entrepreneurng report.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the incident, which happened at Abajana at about two in the morning on March 19, left numerous officials, including policemen and drivers, with gunshot wounds.

Two current NYSC corps members and four former corps members are among the six missing people. The injured people have already been admitted to Lokoja’s Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH), formerly Lokoja’s Federal Medical Centre (FMC).
One of the bus drivers, Mr. Salisu Ibrahim, who was shot in the right leg and is recovering in the hospital, told NAN that the attackers caught them off guard.
“We were attacked by some persons while returning to Lokoja from Abujor RAC with the results of the House of Assembly election held there.”
All six buses in the convoy were targeted, and many of us were hurt as a result.
Thank God, none of us were killed throughout the procedure, but Ibrahim revealed that some corp members went missing during the attack on us this morning. Mr. Dare Owofadaju, a member of the youth corps who was shot in the left thigh, stated:
“Considering the way and manner in which the shooters assaulted us, it is only God that preserved us alive.”
The poll was peacefully conducted, the counting was finished, and “it was while we were going to Lokoja that we were attacked at Abajana,” according to Owofadaju.

He narrated: “Thank God, some security personnel came to our aid and hurried those of us hurt to this Federal University Teaching Hospital Lokoja for prompt treatment.NAN has also learned that the Kogi INEC REC, Dr. Hale Longpet, the Kogi NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Mofoluwaso Williams, and the Commander of Headquarters Command Army Records (CAR), Maj-Gen.
Sunday Igbinomwanhia, have visited the injured patients in the hospital. When NAN enquired about the incident, the REC, and the state’s NYSC coordinator declined to comment.

In conclusion, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the Kogi Police Command’s spokesman, verified the occurrence and said that the police were in control of the situation. He stated, “We are aware of the tragic situation and are getting ready to release a statement on the attack.
