The STARTS Prize Africa 2025 is now accepting applications from African innovators working at the intersection of science, technology, and the arts. This initiative, part of the European Commission’s STARTS program, aims to recognize and support projects that address social, ecological, and economic challenges through creative and technological innovation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to citizens and residents of all African countries, as well as legal entities registered on the continent.
  • Artist groups are eligible if at least one member is an African citizen or resident who submits the application.
  • Accepts all forms of artistic works and practices linked to innovation in technology, business, and society.

Awards:

  • Grand Prize: €15,000
  • Five Awards of Distinction: €3,000 each

Key Dates:

  • Application Deadline: March 5, 2025, 23:59 CET
  • Jury Meeting: April 10 – 13, 2025
  • Winners Announcement: June 2025
  • Award Ceremony and Exhibition: September 3 – 7, 2025, at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria

Winners are expected to attend the award ceremony and present their work at the festival.
