Kenya Airways has reported a significant increase in its Nigerian passenger numbers, transporting over 10,000 passengers from Nigeria between 2023 and 2024.

This growth underscores the airline’s strong market presence in West Africa and its commitment to enhancing regional travel connectivity.

In response to the rising demand, Kenya Airways increased its flight frequency to Lagos from seven to ten flights per week in 2024, resulting in a 21% capacity boost.

Nigerian travelers have become a significant segment of the airline’s frequent flyer community, reflecting their continued preference for Kenya Airways’ services.

To further enhance the travel experience, the airline has introduced attractive stopover packages in Nairobi, allowing passengers to explore Kenya’s rich culture, wildlife, and scenic landscapes while in transit.

Additionally, Kenya Airways has expressed openness to partnering with Nigerian carriers to provide more travel options for passengers within Nigeria and beyond.

Ngamau Stephen, Kenya Airways’ Regional Manager, America and West Africa, told reporters at a press conference held at the carrier’s Lagos office that the airline also boosted the number of weekly flights to Lagos from seven to ten in 2024, representing a 21% capacity increase.

According to Stephen, this improvement strengthens the company’s commitment to the Nigerian market by giving passengers more flexibility and convenience.

Speaking on Kenya’s new visa policy, the airline’s regional manager also praised the Kenyan government for enacting a progressive policy that waives visas for the majority of African nations, including Nigeria.

He said, “Kenya Airways appreciates the concerted efforts of the Nigerian government in facilitating the repatriation of airline funds. The government’s commitment to resolving key challenges in the aviation sector fosters a conducive environment for airlines to thrive. We look forward to leveraging this positive momentum to expand our operations and enhance service delivery.

“To promote tourism and leisure travel, Kenya Airways is introducing attractive stopover packages in Nairobi. These offerings will allow passengers to explore Kenya’s rich culture, wildlife, and scenic landscapes while in transit, further enhancing the overall travel experience.”
