Since the pronouncement of the new naira redesign that started in December 2022 in Nigeria, there has been a lot of calamity and bad record incidents in the land, Entrepreneur report.
Just this morning it was reported that a POS Agent was killed by an angry citizen just because he charged #5000 for #10000. He was set ablaze with petrol and burned to death.
You can imagine this act, you wake up as early as 1 am just to go and queue in the bank, and at the end when you get access to cash, you can only get a minimum of #10,000 from the ATM.
The issue of this new naira note has brought problems even between family members. My neighbor for three days now has been quarreling with his wife over the money issue.
Imagine going for labor work from morning till night and just for you to get paid the money was transferred to your account. You want to withdraw money for the family to eat, no money onATMchine and most banks have even shut down.
You are only left with the option of going to the POS Agent to withdraw money.
On getting there, the conditions this agent has to be met because of how they too struggle to get this cash to run their daily business.
The fact remains that the government cannot fully blame these agents because they too are trying to make a living for themselves and they have a family to care for, their children will eat and go to school.
It was also reported that an anonymous man killed his wife and attempted to kill his children out of frustration and anger.
Another lingering issue now is that Nigerian youth are angry and the birth of the end of Sars season two might emerge in no time. Even more in every state in Nigeria, protest that has led to the destruction of properties and the killing of innocent souls has emerged.
It is a pity that the government is not putting the right measures on the issue of naira scarcity. You can imagine me having money in the bank and being denied access to it even though there is an emergency one might even end up dying in the process.
Commotions here and there, no morning without a heartbreak just because of the new note redesign. To worsen the whole case now most business vendors have started rejecting the old note. We can no longer put things on the market with ease except you have the new note or you do a transfer.

Most market women don’t even have a bank account, so how can this cashless policy favor all its citizens? The truth is that Nigeria is not yet ripe for this kind of administration of this cashless policy. Imagine l want to buy a common pure water of #20 and you are asking for a transfer with charges.
I bought a good this morning that is worth #600 but because l don’t have cash on me l had to transfer #700 and the bank will still remove their charges. What kind of economy are we moving towards, with the recent campaign of the forthcoming election we are supposed to move towards progress and not backward.
In conclusion, I hereby call on the government for a quick resolution to the issue of naira scarcity in Nigeria. The truth is that if this should continue like this I fear that this forthcoming election might end up in violence because its citizen is living in frustration, some can not even afford a daily meal to talk of feeding their family.
