In the early hours of the morning, tragedy struck the bustling plywood market of Rijiyar Lemo in Kano State as a devastating fire tore through the area, leaving destruction in its wake. Mamuda Musa, the market’s chairman, relayed the distressing news to reporters, confirming that the blaze erupted around 1:30 a.m., swiftly engulfing numerous shops in its path.

The fire, fueled by flammable materials such as plywood and other building supplies, ravaged an estimated 50 shops, causing extensive damage valued at millions of naira. Among the affected shop owners was Nura Sani, who lamented the catastrophic loss, expressing profound sadness over the inability to salvage any goods from the inferno.

Despite the valiant efforts of firefighters from the Kano State Fire Service, led by spokesperson Saminu Yusif, the flames raged for several hours before finally being extinguished around 8 a.m. The cause of the fire, however, remained shrouded in uncertainty, leaving investigators to determine its origin.

Mamuda Musa recounted the devastating toll exacted by the fire, noting that the destroyed goods, including plywood and various building materials, amounted to a staggering N150 million. The market, once a bustling hub of commerce and activity, now lay in ruins, its charred remnants serving as a stark reminder of the destructive power of fire, plywood market.
