There is a newborn with two functional penises but no anus. Diphallia is the name for this uncommon medical occurrence. But one was one centimetre larger than the other. There are just 100 cases of diphallia documented in medical literature.
Doctors said the Pakistani boy’s penises are “normal-shaped.” According to MailOnline, they published the incredibly uncommon occurrence in a medical publication. The youngster could even urinate “from both orifices,” according to the Islamabad surgeons. The reason the medics left both members unharmed was not disclosed.
In order to pass the stool, they did a colonoscopy to open him up so he could pass faeces. According to the team’s publication in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports, the likelihood of developing diphallia is one in six million. The first occurrence was reported in medical literature in 1609, and only 100 cases have been documented overall.
According to the boy’s doctors, 1% of patients also have a flaw.Their rectum or anus are impacted by this. However, despite what their numbers would imply, scientists did not say whether or not it meant this youngster was the first person in history to have this defect. The boy was treated at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences’ Children’s Hospital following his 36-week delivery.
Soon after his birth, his parents brought him to the emergency room of the hospital. However, there was no history of birth abnormalities in their family. When the doctors examined him, they found that he had two “well-formed phalluses,” one measuring 1.5 cm and the other 2.5 cm.
He also had no anal entrance. According to scans, he had two urethras connected to a single bladder. This indicates that he expelled pee from both penises. His colon was redirected by surgeons through a hole made in the lower left side of the abdomen. It will enable him to urinate.
After surgery, the youngster was observed for two days. After that, he was released and a follow-up visit was scheduled. There isn’t a single recognised risk factor for diphallia, and its exact cause is unknown.
However, it is believed that having two penises occurs by accident during genital development in the womb. Individuals who have fully developed penises on both sides are said to have complete diphallia. or partial 9 diphallia, which is a smaller or malformed penis on one side.
