The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, received commendation for his exceptional contributions to trade and commerce in Northern Nigeria and throughout the country for nearly four decades. Alhaji Salisu Sambajo, a prominent Kano-based international business tycoon and Chairman of Sambajo General Enterprises Limited, expressed gratitude during a visit to the Dangote pavilion at the Kano International Trade Fair.
Sambajo lauded Dangote as a rare gem and a kind-hearted industrialist, noting his consistent support over the past 40 years. According to Sambajo, Dangote played a crucial role in uplifting businesses during challenging times. He emphasized that Dangote’s impact on commercial activities in the North and across Nigeria is immeasurable, describing him as an integral part of the nation’s commerce and industrialization history.
Highlighting specific instances of Dangote’s generosity, Sambajo mentioned the commitment of N2.5 billion through the Bank of Industry for the development of small businesses, aimed at creating one million jobs. He also recalled Dangote’s substantial donation of N2.5 billion during the 2012 flooding in Nigeria and a notable N2 billion contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sambajo emphasized the significance of Dangote’s philanthropic efforts, citing the donation of a housing estate worth N2 billion to Internally Displaced Persons in Borno State at the peak of the Boko Haram crisis. He concluded by stating that Nigeria should be grateful for Dangote’s numerous interventions, highlighting his substantial impact on various sectors in the country.
