Zack Orji, a legendary actor, has not had much luck with the press. The other time, it was rumoured that he had died after collapsing in his toilet last December, and he underwent two successful brain surgery at the National Hospital in Abuja.
It required the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria to set the record straight. The actor also spoke out against the claim, calling it “a lie from the pit of hell.” This time, it is about his nationality.
Orji revealed in an interview that he was born in Gabon since his father frequently travelled for work. Bloggers, however, misconstrued his statement, stating that he disputed his Nigerian heritage by replying, “I’m from Gabon.” And the rumour spread quickly on the internet, prompting Zack Orji to respond once more.
Zack Orji shouted out in an Instagram post last week to disprove the report of his Gabonese descent, writing, “I am a full-blooded Nigerian, and I am proud of my Nigerian heritage.” The star slammed those who spread misinformation about his nationality.
“They stated I was dead not long ago, but thanks to God’s grace and mercy, it turned out to be a lie from the pit of hell. Another falsehood from hell has emerged, saying that I said, ‘I’m from Gabon, I’m not a Nigerian’. I hereby issue a disclaimer, dissociating myself from the untruth.
Zack Orji
I am a full-blooded Nigerian, and both of my parents are Nigerian. I am from Enugu State, also known as the Coal City State. I am proudly Nigerian, and I am also proud of my Nigerian heritage. God Almighty will deal with whoever told that untruth as He sees fit.”
