According to Uche Secondus, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Bola Tinubu lacks the moral authority to put an end to the planned #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria demonstration since he stands to gain the most from it.

This was stated by Secondus in a statement made in Abuja on Tuesday and signed by his Special Adviser (Media), Ike Abonyi.

Remembering that Tinubu had been a prominent leader of anti-government demonstrations during his time in opposition, he questioned why he was so self-serving this time.

Secondus stated that citizens have a civic responsibility to prevent our beloved nation from collapsing in the face of an unparalleled economic catastrophe and instability brought on by persistently poor leadership by all levels of succeeding administrations.

He went on to say that people’s failure to hold all levels of government accountable has led to an increasingly worse state of anomie that we find ourselves in today. According to Secondus, this has happened because political figures frequently exploit partisan, ethnic, and religious feelings to support or oppose protests, depending on who is in power.

The planned #EndBadGovernanceProtest “is a non-partisan pan-Nigerian and altruistic engagement of the citizens aimed at addressing the malaise in our country,” according to the former PDP helmsman.

“There is no need to discourage this demonstration. Protests continue to be the most effective democratic forum for raising national consciousness and, in fact, for nudging and compelling the leadership class to behave morally and in the best interests of the people. Secondus asserted that the biblical proverb “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” relates to our circumstances as Nigerians.
