Superstar Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, also known as Davido was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and has travelled to nearly every city on earth, the Omo Baba Olowo (OBO) has a thing for the metropolis of aquatic beauty.
Prior to the release of his “Timeless” album last year, he disclosed this in an interview with Apple Music. He acknowledges that some cities, like New York, have their distinct vibes, but he rates Lagos as having as much vitality and vibes as any other metropolis.
Indeed, Lagos resembles New York. Alright. I will admit that I have travelled to a few cities, and I think New York is wonderful. While I haven’t been to Tokyo, I have been somewhere similar. Kingston, definitely; London. Kingston. Lagos moves quite quickly. The ears. The marketplace. And Lagos is the centre of everything.
There are areas of Lagos that resemble Miami. You have the areas in Lagos that resemble Do you understand what I mean? Thus, everything is Lagos. Kind of, that city is a full nation all by itself. “And I’ll repeat this repeatedly: if you can endure in Lagos, you can endure anywhere in the globe,” he declares.
“The vibe in Lagos, musically for me, that’s where I go back. And it is also called tapping in with the streets. We travel so much. We are touring. You know what I’m saying? We never really get time to be at home. So every time I get home, I’m so excited.
I’m like, “Yeah!”,” he adds Davido also reveals his favourite place where he can listen to music away from being a “superstar” with some form of comfort and serenity. And Lagos also pops up in his diary.
It’s on a plane that I focus the best. I do not use wifi. I plug on my headphones and spend some time flipping through recordings and paying close attention. That’s when my true exhaustion sets in. I truly concentrate on that one area.

Yes, that is nice. However, I truly enjoy being at home in Lagos when it comes to recording and selecting records. I always take the idea to Lagos, no matter where it originates—at a studio here or in Atlanta, for that matter,” he says.
