The Yobe Government claims a viral message attributed to it regarding the approval of a new minimum wage is false and deceptive. Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Governor Mai Mala Buni’s Director-General of Press and Media Affairs, delivered the statement in Damaturu on Thursday.
He stated that the state administration has not issued a statement regarding the new minimum wage because it was still being worked on.
” The Yobe Government has been alerted to a fake and deceptive social media post alleging approval of a new minimum wage. ” The government has not published a statement regarding the minimum wage since it is still being worked on and will provide one as soon as it is finalised.
” It is thus exceedingly irresponsible, preemptive, and misleading for anyone to speak or post any comment for or on behalf of the state government.
“The post failed to provide details nor indicate when and where the statement emanated, making the content professionally discredited,” Mohammed told reporters.
The aide stated that a national daily has previously rejected the information, claiming that the logo used in the online post did not originate from it and that the piece could not be retrieved on its website. He recommended the public to disregard the “mischievous and misleading post.”
