Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, signed the ₦955 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year into law. The signing came one week after the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly approved the budget, dubbed the “Budget of Consolidation and Expansion.”
According to a statement released yesterday in Uyo, Governor Eno signed the measure on Monday at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo. Following the ceremony, Governor Eno thanked the State House of Assembly for passing the budget quickly and the amicable relationship between the government and legislature.
He advocated for ongoing collaboration and coordination to guarantee that the people of Akwa Ibom receive democratic dividends. On Tuesday, December 24, the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly adopted the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance’s report and enacted the 2025 budget into law.
The ₦955 billion budget includes ₦300 billion for recurrent expenditure. ₦655 billion is earmarked for capital spending. This is a 3% increase over the ₦923.412 billion revised provision for 2024.
The budget signing ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, members of the State Executive Council, and other State Legislature members.
