The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) asserts that even with annual allocations of over 100 billion naira to education, the system can no longer be sustained only by Federal Government resources.
This was said by the commission’s executive secretary, Hamid Bobboyi, on Monday during a one-day conference in Abuja focused on fostering partnerships with the organised private sector.
He also revealed that over 45 million children in Nigeria are presently enrolled in the country’s basic education programme.
He claims that even with funding from the federal government, the education sector still needs additional resources in order to provide high-quality education.
The head of UBEC made an appeal to the commercial sector, emphasising the value of early childhood education in advancing national development.
