Twitter users reported having reached their daily post limit in latest outage since Musk takeover

In the most recent outage to affect the social media site since Elon Musk, a billionaire, purchased it for $44 billion, users of Twitter were unable to post quickly on the service for over an hour.

Many users who attempted to tweet on Wednesday after 10 p.m. GMT were informed by the platform that they had reached their daily limit, despite the fact that many of them claimed to have not tweeted at all that day.

Not just new tweets but also retweets and replies were impacted by the outage. Additionally, users complained that they couldn’t access their direct messages.

Some users found a solution by setting tweets to go out one minute from now. At almost 11 p.m. GMT, the service was finally restored, but direct messages were still not working at that time.

Tweetdeck, a tool owned by Twitter that enables users to view multiple columns of Twitter in browsers, was still unavailable at the time of posting. There have been rumors that the product will only be available to Twitter Blue customers, but the business hasn’t confirmed that.

Twitter no longer has a press department since Musk took over the firm, but the Guardian addressed enquiries to an email address the business formerly used to respond to press inquiries.

According to US tech publication The Information, Musk instructed Twitter personnel to halt “new feature development” in order to maximize platform stability during the downtime.

The outage occurred just hours after Twitter introduced a new feature that lets Twitter Blue subscribers write messages with up to 4,000 characters. On February 9th, the corporation was also about to stop providing application programming interfaces (API) for free.

A wide range of services, including Twitter thread readers, automated replies, and automatic tweet delete services, will no longer function as a result of the change.
