Trending: Kogi Varsity Graduates Take The VC To Court Over An Alleged N31 Million Diversion

The allegation that Prof. Marietu Tenuche, the vice chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, diverted N31 million intended for the university’s alumni association has led to legal action, as captioned by the Entrepreneurng report.

At the first hearing on the case at the Kogi State High Court, sitting in Anyigba, the plaintiff, the Prince Audu Abubakar University Alumni Association, filed a motion for an interlocutory injunction prohibiting the university, as defendants, from holding any council meetings without the alumni’s participation while the case is heard and the court decides on the main issue at hand.

Also, the alumni association requested a court injunction barring the university from forcibly taking funds from any of the banks used to collect donations for the alumni fund.

They claimed that more than N31 million had been taken from the alumni fund and used for other things.

The Prince Audu Abubakar University Alumni Association’s lawsuit, AYHC/03/2023, was heard for the first time on Friday before Judge F. Ajayi.

The court granted the defense attorney’s motion on notice for an extension of time to file the defendant’s counter-affidavit. The motion was made by F.O. Ekpa, Esq.

F.O. Ekpa Esq. also asked the court for permission to file the defendant’s statements of defense and memorandum of conditional appearance, which were completed after the deadline. The court also agreed to give it.

However, the defendant objected to the claimant’s competency in front of the court in a motion of preliminary objection.

In conclusion, the court ordered the claimant’s attorney Ibrahim Shuaibu Esq. to formally respond to the abovementioned notice of preliminary objection, and the case was continued until May 3, 2023, for a hearing.
