Last week in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Sundry Foods Limited, SFL, owners and operators of Kilimanjaro restaurants, and its sister company, Sundry Markets Limited, SML, owners and operators of Marketsquare Supermarkets, collaborated to organise a blood drive in honour of World Blood Donor Day 2024.

The management and personnel had the chance to freely donate blood to save the lives of people in need during the blood donation campaign, which was conducted at their corporate offices at 23 Nzimiro Street, Old GRA Port Harcourt. In a statement, SFL Executive Director Nnamdi Opara noted that both businesses gave blood in a selfless act of civic duty as responsible corporate citizens of Nigeria, hoping to improve the society.

June 14 is the global day of World Blood Donor Day each year. The purpose of the event is to honour blood donors for their gifts of life-saving blood and to increase public awareness of the value of blood donation. Opara made the following statement in response to the event: “At SFL and SML, positively impacting the lives of the people and communities we serve has been a major priority.

Our teams dedicated to corporate social responsibility (CSR) are searching for methods to increase our societal effect. I’m happy to announce that we’ve launched this kind campaign to emphasise the value of safe blood and blood products and how transfusion is a vital component of medical care. Our staff has responded remarkably well to this initiative.

Blood donation is a vital act of generosity that saves lives and strengthens communities. Opara revealed that the CSR initiatives of SFL and SML in Nigeria over the years embody their shared journey with their communities towards a brighter, safer, and more inclusive future for all. He echoes the dedication of both companies in building, celebrating, and giving back to the community. He said that the availability of an adequate and safe blood supply is crucial for various medical procedures.

In keeping with the organization’s unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s social and human development pillars, SFL and SML never stop working to meet societal demands and have achieved significant progress towards improving the standard of living for the country’s citizens. Since their founding, both businesses have actively supported community welfare aside from the blood drive.
