Folasade Victoria, a 400-level Education and English Language student, has turned her passion for helping others into a thriving business with her brand, Liquid Luxe. She began her entrepreneurial journey in her 100-level second semester, aiming to make everyday necessities more accessible.
“I hate to see my neighbors knock on one another’s door to ask for soap because they just couldn’t afford to buy,” she said, explaining the inspiration behind her liquid soap, which she initially sold for ₦150 per bottle.
Liquid Luxe stands out in the market for its high foaming power and strong stain removal, bridging the common gap between soaps that are either too watery or too thick. Victoria started the business with just ₦5,000 and a borrowed container, facing early challenges such as losing her first batch of customers when a contaminant in the borrowed container spoiled 25 litres of soap.
Despite the setback, she persevered, learning resilience and the importance of patience in business.
Her major customers include students, households, and restaurants, and she markets her products through social media, class groups, and physical advertisements.
Reflecting on her journey, Victoria noted, “Even in all areas of life, good things take time. You have to stay patient and resilient to achieve your goals.”
Looking ahead, she plans to scale Liquid Luxe after graduation by supplying companies, schools, retailers, and supermarkets, and eventually establishing a store to supply chemicals for soap and cosmetics.
Her story underscores how creativity, determination, and a passion to serve can turn a small student venture into a business with real growth potential.
