According to Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu‘s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, work is still being done at the Port Harcourt Refining Company’s 150,000 barrels per day plant in Rivers State.
The 60,000 bpd facility and the 150,000 bpd plant are the two plants owned by PHRC.
The 60,000 bpd refinery is currently running at 70% of its installed capacity, according to Onanuga, who also stated that production will soon be increased.
He added that despite allegations of a shortage, the refinery regularly obtains crude oil.
He made this revelation on Wednesday after accompanying a fact-finding team at the refinery, which produces 60,000 barrels per day.
The presidential adviser claimed that the team’s fact-finding journey had dispelled the fabrications and scepticism regarding the refinery in a post on X on Thursday headlined “Putting to Rest Rumours about Port Harcourt Refinery Complex: Our Fact-Finding Mission.” He clarified that the team was happy with the refinery’s condition.
