In attendance to pay their respects to the late Nollywood star, Mr. Amaechi Muonagor, were Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, and Mr. Dom Onyenji, the State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment and others.
On Friday, Amaechi Muonagor was laid to rest in his Obosi rural home in the state’s Idemili South Local Government Area, surrounded by grieving family members and the Nollywood family.
In his condolence speech, Obi expressed his sadness over the icon’s passing and advised the icon’s family to find comfort in their faith and ask God for the icon’s soul to rest.
Nollywood, according to State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment Onyenji, is an industry for creative people.
He said that Amechi Muonagor, who passed away, was a creative personality that the business had lost. According to Onyenji, the Anambra government was in mourning alongside Nollywood since the legend mentored stars in the industry and performed his duties brilliantly while he was still alive.
The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Emeka Ejezie, encouraged the grieving family to find comfort in the memory of a great man.
Ejezie, who was represented by veteran actor Mr. Steve Eboh, begged that God, in His boundless mercy, would give them the heart to endure the loss.

Mrs Chinyere Anyaegbunam, the state chairman of AGN, stated in her statement that they had lost someone who was very valuable to everyone, emphasising that the late legend was someone people looked up to as a father figure in the profession. Anyaegbunam claimed that the late Muonagor mentored many of them in the film industry.
