Nigerian Senator and former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has publicly called out Air Peace over what he described as unethical practices and racketeering. The incident unfolded at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport after Oshiomhole missed his scheduled flight to Abuja.
Air Peace claimed the senator arrived late for the 6:30 am flight, leading to a denial of boarding in line with standard aviation protocols. The airline also alleged that Oshiomhole became unruly, physically confronting staff and causing disruptions at the terminal.
Oshiomhole, however, pushed back on those claims, stating that he had checked in online the night before and arrived shortly before 6:00 am. He alleged that despite having a boarding pass, the airline told him the flight was full, accusing them of overbooking and asking passengers to pay over ₦100,000 to reschedule.

Describing the scene as chaotic, Oshiomhole said he refused to accept special treatment, instead highlighting the unfairness towards other stranded passengers. He has since lodged a formal complaint with the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, urging intervention over what he sees as systemic exploitation in Nigeria’s domestic air travel industry.
The controversy has sparked wider public debate on customer service, transparency, and passenger rights in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
