The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the Federal Government to address the nation’s deteriorating security and economic problems. CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh acknowledged Oluremi Tinubu’s commitment to social causes, particularly in agriculture, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, and philanthropy, in a statement honouring her 64th birthday.
Archbishop Okoh used the occasion to emphasise the critical need for the government to address Nigeria’s pressing problems, pointing out that millions are affected by rising rates of unemployment and inflation, and that rising levels of insecurity—including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping—threaten to national stability.
Archbishop Okoh said, “The national leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) celebrates the birthday of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu. On this special occasion, we extend our heartfelt wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success in her role as a leader and advocate for the people of Nigeria.”
CAN emphasised that despite individual efforts, collective action from all government levels is needed to address the nation’s problems. Oluremi Tinubu was encouraged to continue advocating for marginalised Nigerians, ensuring their needs and aspirations remain central in national discussions.
Mrs. Tinubu has demonstrated a great devotion to a number of humanitarian causes in her role as First Lady, including philanthropy, education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and agriculture. Her efforts in these important areas are admirable and demonstrate a thorough comprehension of the difficulties confronting our country.
But it’s important to recognise the urgent problems that many Nigerians are currently facing. Numerous families have been severely impacted by growing rates of inflation, insecurity, and the continuous battle to pay for basics. While we honour the First Lady’s accomplishments, we also need to demand that all governmental branches recommit to tackling these urgent issues.
“We urge the First Lady to keep up her support of the voiceless and marginalised, making sure that their needs and goals are given priority in the national conversation. We hope that her influence would serve as a catalyst for good, promoting a Nigeria where all citizens can live in harmony and prosperity.
As we pay tribute to her, let’s consider how we can all do our part to encourage one another and strive towards a better future for all Nigerians. To Your Excellency Oluremi Tinubu, a happy birthday. I hope your next path is full of grace and purpose.
