The Ogun State government plans to hire 1,000 recruitment of teachers to cover open positions in the state’s public schools. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology is coordinating the activity alongside the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

Ogun TEACh, or the Ogun State Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel, is a unique intervention program created to address open positions in the state’s public elementary, secondary, and technical institutions.

Proposals must have at least a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a B.A. (Edu)/B.Sc. (Ed)/B.Ed. with a Second Class Lower in pertinent subjects/courses, according to a statement signed by Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology. The statement also stated that applicants from other fields (not education) must have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from an accredited university.

Additionally, applicants who wish to be considered for technical colleges must have a B.Sc. in Technical Education, B.Sc. in Engineering, B.Eng., or HND in Engineering Fields. Interested candidates were instructed to apply between Wednesday, October 16, and Wednesday, November 6, 2024, via the Ogun State Job Portal at www.teach.ogunstate.gov.ng.

The statement states that successful candidates, referred to as TEACh Interns, will be assigned to Local Government Areas that urgently require their assistance and will be paid a monthly stipend for two years.

Following that, they will be evaluated based on a variety of factors, including their level of expertise, dedication to their work, punctuality, respect for established authority, and willingness to work wherever they are assigned.

The final group of 5,000 interns that Governor Dapo Abiodun vowed to hire is the 1,000 that will be hired. As permanent teachers, the first 4,000 interns are now being offered permanent positions.
