Nigeria’s Transparency and Integrity Index 2024 ranking was released yesterday by the Bureau for Public Sector Reform and the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity. It ranked 514 institutions across the three tiers of government.

The top-ranked institution was the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, or NOSDRA; second and third place went to the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, or NIPC, and the top-ranked bank, or Development Bank of Nigeria, or DBN, respectively. In 2023, DBN had topped the ranking.

The Nigerian Army (309th), Nigerian Police (337th), Nigerian Communication Commission (22nd), Federal Ministry of Power (445th), and NNPC Limited (18th) are some more well-known rankings. Kaduna was placed first among the states, followed by Kano and Kogi in second and third place.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) came in last, followed by Taraba States and Plateau. At the local government level, Benue state’s Vandeikya, Ushongo, and Tarka were ranked lowest, while Abi, Akamkpa, and Akpabuyo in Cross River state ranked in the top three.
