The Nigerian National Petroleum Commission has provided an explanation for its inability to deliver the eagerly anticipated Port Harcourt Refinery Company, only two months after the September completion date failure.
Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC, told PUNCH on Monday that the business faced dangers and difficulties during the restoration process because it was a brownfield project.
He mentioned that following the mechanical completion in Nigeria, the NNPC started commissioning essential machinery and processing plants.
“However, as is common with brownfield projects of this scale and complexity, we encountered unforeseen risks and challenges,” he stated.
However, he informed The PUNCH that commissioning operations have restarted and the problems have been fixed.
Soneye emphasised that efforts are being made to guarantee the project’s successful completion.
