In February, Nigeria’s crude oil output increased to 1.3 million barrels per day, the highest level in 13 months.
This was revealed by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) in its latest oil production report, which was published on its website on Thursday.
According to agency data, the country’s production increased by 39% from 937,766 barrels per day in September, when the country was dealing with oil theft.
Nigeria’s crude oil output increased by 48,154 barrels per day month on month, from 1.26 million barrels per day in January to 1.3 million barrels per day the following month.
The NUPRC data confirmed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) promise that Nigeria would reach 1.8 million barrels per day in the next two to three months.
Mele Kyari, the NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, told journalists last month that the company passed the 1.6 million barrels per day mark on February 16.
I know that it is not far away, probably two to three months maximum, but we will be there, and that will bring back partners to invest, return the confidence of our investors, and ultimately bring back growth, he stated.
