News Update: APC Requests That The US Government Disregard The Election Petition

by Tolulope Akinruli

The American branch of the All Progressives Congress wrote to Joe Biden, the president of the United States, and Kelvin McCarthy, the speaker of the House of Representatives, on Monday urging them to disregard a petition purportedly written by some irate Nigerians that would undermine the 2023 presidential election, Entrepreneurng report.

The proposal comes three days after US government officials allowed certain diasporans in the nation to use their park on April 3 to protest the results of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

Only 100 protesters are permitted to congregate at Washington, D.C.’s famous Lafayette Park for just four hours, according to the permit.

Participants must “comply with all of the requirements of this permission and with all reasonable directives of the United States Park Police,” according to a clear warning on the permit.

An organization in the diaspora operating under the auspices of the Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy Inc., directed by Franklin Ekechukwu, is anticipated to take the lead in the planned protest.

“In a prior memo, Ekechukwu stated that the demonstration was their means of protesting INEC’s failure to “follow their standards and the rule of law in accordance to democratic values.”

But, Prof. Tai Balofin, the APC chapter chairman in the United States, claimed that Nigeria’s sovereignty since independence had been successful.

“We are writing to you regarding a recent petition that has been presented, seeking for the delegitimization of the Nigerian presidential election that was certified free and fair by the Independent National Election Commission,” the statement stated. We kindly request that you dismiss the petition as you are the leader of a nation that promotes democratic principles.”

The connection between tribes, which is influenced by politics and religion, is threatened by several issues the government needs to deal with.

“The alliance of anti-military activists strengthened the democracy we have maintained since 1999. The great people who sacrificed their time, energy, and lives to make this possible view Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as an unrepentant front-runner from the NADECO era who struggled to bring about this democracy.”

Balofin referred to Tinubu as a master of political drafting and chess with gaming mastery of political successes and claimed that he became a point of reference and a grandmaster of strategic transformation that nation leaders always turned to for ideas and turnarounds.

“Respecting the democratic process and the choices made by the electoral body is essential. Any person or organization has no right to demand the suspension of democracy or the installation of an interim administration. Their activities not only violate the constitution but also threaten Nigeria’s security and stability.”

“They have been advocating activities that subvert the constitution by opposing the procedures established for resolving disputes and grievances.”

Conclusion

Along with being seditious, their deeds and words endanger Nigeria’s security and peace. Considering that the British government vehemently supports the democratic process in Nigeria, we implore you to denounce this action.

We are willing to provide the US Congress with additional evidence, to conclude. I appreciate you considering this, he continued.
