In the supplemental election held on Saturday, the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State won the final three House of Assembly seats, while the All Progressives Congress claimed the final House of Representatives seat, Entrepreneurng report.

Destiny Enabulele, Natasha Osawaru, and Uyi Omosigho, candidates for the PDP, won the Ovia Southwest, Egor, and Oredo East constituencies in the Edo House of Assembly election, respectively. Chief Billy Osawaru of the APC won the additional vote in the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde federal constituency of Edo State.

On March 21, INEC declared the March 18 Edo House of Assembly elections in the Ovia Southwest, Egor, and Oredo East constituencies as being inconclusive.

PDP candidates won twelve of the state’s 24 House of Assembly seats in the previous elections held in Edo on March 18. APC contestants won eight constituencies, and LP candidates took home one seat. The PDP now has 15 members in the state’s House of Assembly.

APC won five seats in the House of Representatives, LP had two seats, and PDP took one. APC also won two senatorial seats, while LP had one.

The chairman of the LP in Edo, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, called on INEC to call off the supplementary election for the House of Assembly on Saturday in the Oredo East and Egor seats and referred to it as a hoax.

At a press conference held on Sunday in Benin, Ogbaloi reaffirmed that intimidating young men were stationed in every polling place where the extra election was conducted, preventing supporters of the LP from entering the voting area.

He claimed that when trying to enter their polling places, LP members were dehumanized and harassed, and that one of them was struck by a car at the Ward 12 Agbado Primary School polling place in Benin while attempting to flee his assailants.

In the Oredo East and Egor constituencies, he declared, “We have come on Sunday as LP to dissociate ourselves from the sham they call an election. They corrupted the election with brigandage. LP is not a participant in the ruse.

“One cannot call an election a poll in which our members were completely denied the opportunity to participate. A few LP officials were hospitalized after being beaten. Only PDP government employees from Edo State were permitted inside the polling places. People who tried to vote for LP were assaulted, had their clothing torn, and were shoved away, he claimed.”

In conclusion, Oredo East and Egor constituencies, Ogbaloi also requested the holding of a second special election.
