New Update: Resignation Of Nigeria President From Office – Muhammadu Buhari

by Tolulope Akinruli

Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) has been called by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria to submit his letter of resignation in order to stop the economy from imploding as a result of the problems caused by the currency redesign strategy.

Buhari and the Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele was blasted, for abandoning Nigerians in the midst of a cash crunch crisis in a statement signed by the organization’s Executive Director, Emmanuel Onwubiko, on Tuesday. The group added that both the president and the CBN governor had impoverished Nigerians and put the nation on “autopilot.”

Nigerians have tragically become poorer as a result of the unnecessary naira redesign strategy that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and President Muhammadu Buhari deployed as a political weapon against their rivals.

“Alas! Nigeria is operating in automatic mode. When millions of Nigerians suffer from a severe cash shortage, the Supreme Court issues a ruling, President Buhari departs for a world-trotting gambit in Qatar, and the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria keeps his mouth shut. To prevent Nigeria’s impending economic collapse while he is president, President Muhammadu Buhari should submit his letter of resignation right away if, as he claims, he fears God and is a statesman.

Remember that on April 10, 2023, the old N500 and N1,000 banknotes ceased to be legal currency in Nigeria, and that Buhari had instructed the apex bank to release the old N200 notes into circulation for a 60-day period to coexist with the new N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes.

However, the president’s declaration and the CBN’s deadline for naira redesign were revoked by the supreme court on Friday. This was done in response to a petition filed by sixteen state governors, led by the governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states, asking the court to invalidate and set aside the policy because it was putting innocent Nigerians through hardship.

The group claimed that the president and the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had left Nigerians and commercial banks indecisive about whether to heed the Supreme Court’s ruling or the president’s announcement that the old N200 and N500 notes will cease to be legal tender on April 10, 2023, and that the old N500 and N1,000 notes are no longer valid.

Nigerians are confused by the President and the CBN governor’s stance, and as a result, the nation is currently operating on autopilot as commercial banks are unsure whether to abide by the Supreme Court’s ruling or the President’s declaration that the old N500 and N1,000 notes are no longer valid and that the old N200 will cease to be legal tender on April 10, 2023.

HURIWA further claimed that the president, who also serves as the minister of petroleum, had abandoned drivers in long lines across the nation to be blackmailed by criminally motivated distributors of petroleum products, noting that the general populace bore the brunt of the pointless political battles between Emefiele and his rivals in the ruling All Progressives Congress.

In conclusion, the group urged an end to Buhari’s economic and monetary policies because “they have already resulted in fictitious inflation.”
