In collaboration with the Nigeria Network of NGOs, it created information systems and a public directory to help civil society organizations expand their operations in the country.
To promote accountability, transparency, and legitimacy for civil society and the media on the Civil Society Public Directory and Management Information System (MIS), platforms being developed to capture and provide information on the operations of civil society organizations in Nigeria, while strengthening civil society’s capacity to engage citizens to influence the Government of Nigeria in key development reforms at all levels.

“The platforms were developed as part of activities under the project Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagements (SCALE) supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and aim to create a system that allows for civil society growth by ensuring visibility, self-regulation, learning, and experience sharing among the various levels within the civil society community.”
However, according to the Executive Director of the Nigeria Network of NGOs, Oyebisi, B. Oluseyi, will help Nigerian CSOs strengthen and grow their capacity.
Prior it Regulations, it is delicate for it to remain very important for the development of any sector and so we have taken the initiative to create tools, platforms, and systems that aid not only statutory regulatory compliance but also self-regulation while paying attention to capacity strengthening and growth for Nigerian CSOs using technology. We are ecstatic to be at the center of this historic shift in Nigeria’s third sector.

“We are deepening the consultation today, moving from conception to practice in ways that ensure we can define the user experience for the MIS and Public Directory through learning, collaboration, and consultation,” Oyebisi added.
Given his words, the next few months would include engagements with CSOs across the country to encourage subscription to the platforms, which were designed in such a way that information provided could be verified using algorithms powered by Artificial Intelligence.
It is also accessible to people with disabilities and organizations in difficult-to-reach areas while ensuring that organizations have access to tools to help them develop their capacities in a variety of areas.
Finally, the platforms will be useful to the government, regulators, development partners, donors, and civil society organizations themselves in identifying Nigerian CSOs, their activities, and partners, promoting collaboration, good governance, capacity development, and inspiring confidence and trust in civil society organizations’ activities.
