The Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, highlighted the crucial role of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) in the Federal Government’s pursuit of food security. During a visit to the agency, the Minister commended its efforts in scientific research and national security, urging continued excellence to establish the agency as a leader in biosafety across the continent.
Lawal encouraged them to expand its initiatives to involve state governments, believing collaboration would raise awareness and facilitate nationwide implementation of biosafety measures. He also stressed the importance of punctuality, teamwork, and collaboration among staff for enhanced efficiency and productivity.
Dr. Agnes Yemisi Asagbra, the Director General/CEO of NBMA, underscored the agency’s role in protecting human health, plants, animals, and the environment. She highlighted the agency’s provision of a conducive environment for both local and international scientists to engage in modern biotechnology within a robust legal framework.
