The administration of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo announced plans to hire 7,000 teachers for public primary schools. At a news conference in Ibadan on Friday, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, or OYOSUBEB, revealed this.
The state administration also announced that the state’s special needs subsector would hire one hundred (100) carers. In response to Governor Seyi Makinde’s pledge, Dr. Adeniran stated during the briefing that efforts were still being made to find the instructors.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the recruitment of 7,000 teachers in our public elementary schools, fulfilling his campaign pledge and the desires of the people of Oyo State, which were prompted by the teacher shortage in our schools. Furthermore, he gave his approval to hire 100 carers for our special schools,” he stated.
According to Adeniran, the recruitment process has to be made public in order to prevent con artists from spreading false information. He urged prospective applicants to avoid falling for con artists and to be cautious of con artists. Dr. Adeniran emphasised that no one had been nominated by the Board to serve as an agent, and that the Board had only begun the initial stages of the hiring process.
“This Board, signed by me, will emanate the stages to have a free, fair, credible exercise,” Adeniran declared. He encouraged applicants to visit the Board without holding back and to not rely on information from outside sources. “No employee has the authority to demand payment from applicants. We appreciate the governor keeping his commitment.

He stated, “He kept his word and may God grant him divine wisdom to manage the affairs of the State,” adding that the Board would make an announcement later on the application deadline. The Governor’s order to conduct an exercise, based on merit, would be carefully followed, he continued, and the Board was collaborating with other pertinent agencies to ensure a smooth exercise.
