LAMB academy, Lagos Aviation and Maritime Business has recently taken a significant stride in addressing the escalating demand for well-trained and proficient seafarers by announcing the commencement of five fundamental seafaring courses. This noteworthy development, unveiled during the academy’s 13th convocation and 8th National Diploma matriculation, reflects the institution’s commitment to equipping cadets with practical sea experience, thereby establishing a robust foundation for a successful career in the maritime industry.

Emeka Udowu, the Rector of LAMB Academy, underscored the importance of practical sea training as an integral component of a cadet’s education. Recognizing the increasing demand for skilled seafarers, Udowu emphasized that the academy’s proactive approach in offering comprehensive and practical training is poised to attract aspiring individuals seeking fulfilling careers at sea.

Moreover, in a bid to further diversify and enhance its course offerings, LAMB Academy is actively seeking accreditation for additional programs. These include courses in ship, boat, and building technology, as well as transport and business studies, incorporating underwater diving technology. This strategic move aligns with the academy’s vision to stay ahead of industry trends and provide students with a well-rounded education that meets the evolving needs of the maritime sector.

Embracing a broader perspective, Udowu shed light on the academy’s plan to transition from an innovation institution to a mono-technic. This transformation not only signifies a change in the institution’s status but also opens doors for the expansion of courses, offering students a more diverse range of educational opportunities.

However, despite the positive trajectory, Udowu highlighted several challenges that the academy currently faces. These include the pressing need for additional land to construct classroom blocks and hostels, the completion of unfinished hostels, the demand for coaster buses to facilitate student transportation during vacations, the necessity for a standard swimming pool for practical survival techniques, and ongoing issues with electricity supply.

In addressing these challenges, Udowu called upon parents to contribute towards the school’s development. Additionally, he appealed to the government for prompt intervention, particularly in commencing the construction of the main road leading to Ije-ododo, the community where the school is situated.

Conclusion: LAMB Academy

LAMB Academy’s recent initiatives underscore its dedication to staying at the forefront of maritime education, providing students with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experiences that are vital for a successful and fulfilling career in the dynamic maritime industry, as reported by guardian.ng
