In a move to curb youth unemployment and foster innovation, the Lagos State Government has launched a grassroots empowerment initiative targeting underserved communities, beginning with Alimosho Local Government Area.
The programme, spearheaded by the Office of the Special Adviser on Innovation and Digital Technology, seeks to equip young people with digital, creative, and entrepreneurial skills.
Beneficiaries will also receive mentorship, startup support, and access to funding opportunities.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Olatubosun Alake, emphasized the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.
“We are taking empowerment to the doorstep of the people,” he said. “This initiative is designed to ensure that no youth is left behind, especially at the grassroots.”
Participants in the first phase of the scheme will undergo intensive training in areas such as digital marketing, software development, and small business management.
The project will gradually expand to other local government areas in the state.
The initiative aligns with Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ agenda, with a strong focus on social development, economic growth, and digital innovation.
