The Joint Tax Board (JTB), Nigeria’s apex body for tax authorities, has declared its readiness to digitize Nigeria’s tax system to enhance efficiency and transparency.

During a staff retreat in Abuja on Wednesday, JTB’s Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, underscored the importance of equipping staff members to adapt to the current and evolving tax landscape.

Adesokan stated that the organization is poised to submit some of its reports to the presidency soon, highlighting its advocacy for the complete digitization of tax administration to enhance effectiveness.

He emphasized, “The secretariat, which serves as a hub for major federal and sub-national revenue authorities, needs to be prepared for the task ahead. One of the things the committee is also doing is to reposition and strengthen the trained tax board. We do not have to wait till the reforms have been implemented before we prepare ourselves for the emerging trends.”
