To increase the income potential of content creators, Meta on Wednesday announced the launch of its Content Monetisation test program for Facebook. Reels, long-form videos, text articles, and photographs may all be monetised by artists using this effort, which was unveiled on Wednesday.
It combines three important monetisation tools: in-stream ads, ads on reels, and the performance bonus. By combining Facebook’s current monetisation initiatives, the new Meta program gives creators a single, unified way to make money in a variety of formats.
This is a positive development because, in the past, only roughly one-third of authors received payments from multiple Facebook-funded initiatives because of variations in availability and eligibility. With Facebook paying out more than $2 billion in the last year alone, over four million creators have made money on the platform since 2017.
“While we’re proud of the ways in which our monetisation programs have contributed to the success of Facebook creators, we also acknowledge that the varying eligibility requirements, sign-up procedures, and availability of our various programs have caused some creators to lose out on opportunities and others to not be able to earn from all formats that are available.
And the statistics supports this: as of right now, only roughly one-third of Facebook creators who monetise their work make money from multiple Facebook-funded initiatives, the company announced today. Reels and short-form movies have generated very high earnings, with compensation rising by more than 80% in the last 12 months.
How It Operates
The monetisation process is made simpler by the Content Monetisation beta by:
1. Enabling content producers to make money from several content forms with a single program.
2. Offering consolidated performance insights to facilitate tracking
3. Preserving a compensation system that is based on performance. Beginning on July 1, Facebook users in Ghana and Nigeria with 5,000 followers will be paid.
When It Starts
Inviting one million creators who are already making money on Facebook, Facebook plans to hold open enrolment in 2025. Through the monetisation option in the Professional dashboard or Meta Business Suite, creators who are interested in early access can sign up.
This strategic convergence intends to further empower Facebook’s creative community, making it easier and more rewarding to monetise their work.
