Applications for the World Bank Group’s Young Professionals Programme (YPP) are now being accepted. The opportunity was disclosed by the firm in a statement on Thursday. The statement states that the application will go live on September 1, 2024, and run through September 30, at 11:59 p.m.
According to the World Bank, the programme aims to hire young individuals with a variety of professional and academic backgrounds who are relevant to its operations as well as the operations of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), International Finance Corporation (IFC), and other organisations.
The World Bank, IFC, or MIGA offers a five-year employment contract that starts with a two-year leadership development programme called the WBG YPP. The chosen professionals would begin the programme in Washington, DC, and receive intense training there, both in the classroom and on the work, to master the foundations of development operations and leadership across institutions.
The event’s promoters stated, “YPs are full-time employees who significantly contribute to the work programme of their respective unit while building networks and knowledge across the Bank Group through the YPP.” They frequently participate in field missions, where they assist with WBG operations directly with customers and understand important facets of our work.
“YPs gain the fundamental information necessary to contribute to our business and the leadership competencies through the WBG YPP curriculum. Activities include networking, mentoring, and talks with WBG leadership in addition to professional development and leadership training. “YPs receive extensive training on the programmes, services, and policies of the MIGA, IFC, and World Bank.
This component of the WBG YPP curriculum guarantees that YPs will be able to operationalize collaborative WBG solutions to development problems and will be able to remember and use this knowledge for a long time.
