Group to NNPCL: We’ll continue to obstruct crude oil drill in Warri

The Niger Delta Liberation Movement (NDLM), popularly known as MOVEMENT, has warned that if their demands are not satisfied, crude oil drilling and transportation procedures in Warri, Delta State, will continue to be hampered.

MOVEMENT stated this after creating an explosion on a major connection connecting the Dibi field to Olero, emphasising that the attack on the facility was their most significant accomplishment. The group’s secretary, Mr Emmanuel Tagbanaraewumi, stated that they would no longer accept being sidelined and oppressed by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited.

His words: “We accept full responsibility for the gas line blast at Junction 19 that occurred in the early hours (3:30AM) of this day, Tuesday, June 18, 2024.” Despite the recent deployment of additional security personnel to these areas of operations, this blast can be considered our significant hit and ‘greatest feat’ since operations began in 2023, with more to come as we will not stop until our demands are met.

“We have passed the era of warning strikes, and we are committed to free our communities from the grips of contemporary slavery and marginalisation by the NNPCL and her JVs in Itsekiri country. We praise our foot soldiers’ courage for this success and promise that this is only the beginning, despite the increased presence of security personnel. Their efforts to liberate our people will not be in vain.

“It is no longer business as usual because the seven-day deadline has passed. We gave them enough time to visit our needs even after the deadline had passed and make changes to their operational techniques in our territories, but the NNPCL and her JVs acted unrepentantly, therefore they should brace themselves for the worst until our unchangeable demands are realised.”
