Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa confirmed the death of his mother, Maryam Namadi, on Wednesday.
This was said by his Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Gumel, on Wednesday in Dutse. Maryam died early on Wednesday, December 25, and was buried according to Islamic traditions in Kafinhausa town about 4:00 p.m.
Many state people attended the funeral prayer and expressed their condolences to the governor on his passing.
Meanwhile, Tijjani Abdullahi, the state’s Commissioner of Police, expressed sympathy for Namadi on the death of his mother.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Shiisu Adam, Abdullahi conveyed his deepest sympathies to the governor. According to reports, Namadi died while on a working tour in China.
