by Tolulope Akinruli

In honor of Earth Day, Google has published data showcasing the top sustainability-related trends as well as Nigerians’ rising concern for environmental issues. This was said in a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos by Mr. Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, the West Africa communications, and public affairs manager, of the Entrepreneurng report.

According to Kola-Ogunlade, the data indicated that Nigerians had a high interest in learning about environmental words and ideas like global warming and climate change.

“To put it simply, climate change refers to the broader repercussions of global warming, such as changes in weather patterns and more frequent and severe weather events. Global warming, on the other hand, refers to the gradual rise in earth’s temperature caused by human activity.”

“Climate change is one of humanity’s most pressing problems, and Earth Month is a chance for all of us to think about what we can do to alter things.”

In essence, we want to enable Nigerians to take action for a more sustainable future by empowering them with information on environmental issues that are easily available.

“How we can all work together to protect our world is more important than just what Google does.”

The greater awareness of these issues is a testament to the growing public engagement on Earth Day and beyond, he added, as the nation faces particular challenges in tackling climate change.

According to him, by making knowledge of environmental issues easily accessible, Nigerians will be motivated to take action for a more sustainable future.

He continued by saying that Nigerians were increasingly looking for ways to control and lessen the effects of flooding.

He claims that because of its extensive coastline and numerous rivers, Nigeria is especially susceptible to flooding, which can severely damage infrastructure, agriculture, and community life.

“According to Kola-Ogunlade, “carbon neutrality is another hot topic in Nigeria as people look for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and support global climate action as awareness of climate change grows and its effects become more obvious.”

In conclusion, he claimed that to battle climate change and save their communities, people and organizations alike were becoming more interested in cutting their emissions and supporting sustainable practices.
