Kollington Ayinla, a 74-year-old veteran in Fuji music, has refuted reports of his passing and complimented Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in the process.
The seasoned artist made this revelation in a brief video posted on Tuesday from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. He thanked everyone for their support in helping him recover.
Kollington expressed his gratitude to God, the hospital administration, and other parties for his recovery in the two minutes and nineteen second video. He disclosed that his condition had gotten so bad that he was on the verge of passing away, but the hospital’s medical staff kept him alive.
Using the video, Kollington sought to reassure the public that he was still alive and well. He expressed gratitude to LASUTH (Lagos State University Teaching Hospital) for their efforts and emphasized how important they were to his healing.
Kollington Ayinla said, “A lot of people thought I was dead,” bluntly. But when it comes to treatment, LASUTH is a king. I applaud their efforts; you did your best. I am grateful to Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu, our governor. Thank you for your support.

Together with his late colleague Ayinde Barrister, Kollington—who was born in August 1949 and hailed from Ilota, Kwara State—dominated the Fuji music scene. Together, they made the genre well-known in Nigeria and other countries.
