Fresh Update: APC Governors Not In Support Of The New Naira Redesign

by Tolulope Akinruli

Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, has denied that governors are opposed to the naira redesign because it will prevent them from inducing voters during the upcoming elections.

According to El-Rufai, governors fought the policy because of the hardship it had caused citizens, and the police had pitted the All Progressives Congress against the citizens.

We reviewed this policy and the hardship it caused people, as well as the hatred Nigerians developed for the APC, because Nigerians blame the APC, and the people who implemented the policy did so for our party to lose the election.

After we finished our review, we agreed that the supreme court’s decision, which stated that the old and new notes should be used until the case was resolved, should be followed.

“Did vote buying begin today? Why wasn’t the money redesigned earlier? Why is it now? Second, is vote-buying limited to naira? It can be purchased with dollars, euros, or CFA, and the voters can be given food.

“There are several methods for purchasing votes. Money cannot be removed from politics, but it can be reduced.

He claimed that the policy was sold to the president by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, in collusion with opposition party members.

“We are not against this policy because of vote buying,” El-Rufai stated. We are against it because of how we saw people suffer, not because of the elections.

Those who pushed for the naira redesign are not APC members. Godwin Emefiele, you see, was brought in by the PDP. The others who decided with them are aware of them and will expose them when the time comes because they are not members of our party.

By God’s grace, come this Saturday the masses will retaliate against those who want to drag our party to the ground. who the APC allowed getting money more than enough for them to do their shopping because some of them knew that shopping in their homes was difficult for them eight years ago, but now they have more money than you could imagine.

El-Rufai claimed that the president refused to change the policy because he had been told that governors are thieves.

In conclusion, the president is someone who believes in people, and we (governors) have had our image tarnished. Governors, he has been told, are thieves, which is why we oppose the naira redesign policy.

Even if we go to him and say, Our leader, you have been lied to in this place, and he says, “I understand and will take action on it,” he will be told not to take action the moment we leave. Everyone scores a nine out of ten. In this regard, we believe the president erred.
