The Nigerian Federal Government has sanctioned the allocation of N25 billion from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) to fortify healthcare infrastructure across states. Prof. Muhammed Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, disclosed this during the sixth meeting of the BHCPF Ministerial Oversight Committee in Abuja. Pate outlined that the funds are earmarked for direct facility financing and workforce incentives, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing it for women, children, and vulnerable groups.

The disbursement will be facilitated through gateways such as the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). Moreover, a portion of the funds will be channeled by the NHIA to provide financial protection for the most disadvantaged, ensuring equitable access. To uphold transparency and accountability, a dedicated reporting mechanism will be established for citizens to report any misuse of funds.
