Julius Berger’s aluminium and glass subsidiary, Abumet Nigeria Ltd, has empowered young artists through its maiden Graffiti Art Competition held in Abuja, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative to promote youth creativity and human capital development.
The two-day event provided university students with a platform to express their artistic skills by transforming blank shipping containers into colourful, meaningful art pieces that reflected Abumet’s identity, including themes of aluminium profiles, façades, and craftsmanship.
After a keenly contested display of creativity and originality, Johanness emerged winner, receiving ₦1 million, while Zaphaniel and Boluwatife took second and third positions, winning ₦500,000 and ₦300,000 respectively.
Other participants also received consolation prizes for their efforts and innovation.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Abumet General Manager, Diemo Schillack, said the initiative reflects the company’s dedication to nurturing young talent and inspiring innovation.
“We have a mission to empower young talents who must be encouraged to identify their respective gifts and excel for their personal growth and the good of society,” Schillack stated.
He urged stakeholders to sustain such creative engagements to build on the momentum generated.
Participants lauded Abumet for giving them a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and expressed enthusiasm for future editions of the competition.
