Elon Musk reacts after Meta’s Instagram, Facebook shut down

by Ikenna Ngere

Elon Musk has reacted after tech rival, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, Instagram and Facebook shuts down temporarily.

Many users were having trouble loading properly and being locked out of their accounts on Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Threads before it was restored.

Just before 3 p.m., Facebook outages were reported on Down Detector, with over 300,000 issues recorded.

The service, which compiles status information from many sources, including users, also recorded more than 25,000 Instagram outages.

Users on Facebook experienced login issues, as they find themselves shut out and unable to retrieve their passwords or access their accounts.

There were issues with user timelines, stories, and comments not loading on Instagram.

In reaction to this, Elon Musk poked fun at his rivals Meta on his X platform.

Taking to the microblogging platform, he wrote: “If you are reading this post, it’s because our servers are working.”
